A Best Director Oscar nominee for The Imitation Game in 2015, Morten Tyldum–who’s served as a director/EP on Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan streaming TV series–treated Defending Jacob, an Apple TV+ drama which premiered in late April, very much like a feature film, directing all eight episodes as well as wearing an EP hat.

Milk A Decade Later: Talking With Dustin Lance Black

In 2004, Dustin Lance Black set out to reclaim the story of Harvey Milk by interviewing all the people who’d known the out San Francisco politician back in the day. The remarkable story of how one of America’s first openly gay elected politicians rose to power only to be gunned down along with the city’s mayor George Moscone by Dan White in 1978 made national headlines at the time. Ten years later it was immortalized in the Academy Award®-winning documentary The Times of Harvey Milk.

Award-winning actress Sally Fields and her son Sam Greisman are among the first wave of stars supporting the Human Rights Campaign’s “Americans for the Equality Act,” which launched March 25. In the series’ debut video, filmed by award-winning directors Dustin Lance Black and Paris Barclay, Fields talks to her son about his own journey to accepting his sexuality.

Miramax Picks Up ‘I Won’t Be Home For Christmas’ Script From ‘On My Block’ Co-Creator Lauren Iungerich

Miramax has secured the film rights to I Won’t Be Home For Christmas, a holiday film written by Lauren Iungerich, who is also set to direct the feature as her first directorial outing. Iungerich is best known as the creator behind MTV’s Awkward series, which ran for five seasons, and co-creator of Netflix’s coming-of-age comedy, On my Block, which will launch its second season this month.

Justin Simien, the creator and director of “Dear White People,” has been tapped to direct an untitled project at Warner Bros. about “The Mother of Hip-Hop,” Sylvia Robinson.


Robinson was a prominent record producer, writing and producing for artists such as Ike and Tina Turner, Kid Rock, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg
